| Toyoto overtakes Ford for no.2 spot in US
TOYOTA overtook struggling Ford for the number-two spot in the US market Thursday as the Japanese automaker managed to boost sales in a generally weak market. It was the first time Ford slipped below second place since 1931. Toyota's triumph came as Ford, Big-Three leader General Motors and third-place Chrysler shuttered plants and slashed low-profit sales to rental car companies amid massive restructuring programs. The market share of the Big Three US automakers fell to 51.1 per cent from 53.7 per cent in 2006 as their combined sales fell 7.1 per cent, according to Autodata. Asian automakers now command 41.7 per cent of the US market while European brands hold 7.2 per cent. Total adjusted light vehicle sales fell 1.8 per cent to 16.3 million vehicles in 2007, Autodata reported.

The bad news: no Davidson big is averaging more than nine points or six rebounds. Kansas State Wildcats (17-5) Right, they took down the Kansas Jayhawks, so you're aware of Frank Martin's Wildcats. Coming Soon: SR to Release E-mail Exchanges ... (Not so fast...)
Update: After reviewing the messages and our options (none good), we've decided not to post the messages. Here's the situation: Of the 50 messages, a few have explicit photos embedded in the message. We can't publish those photos (one shows a toddler's penis). We also have a strong ethical policy against blurring or otherwise manipulating photos. Some of the messages are completely innocuous. The rest of the messages only refer to attachments. Those attachments are explicit, so we can't publish them. We've also gone through each message to blur e-mail addresses for privacy reasons. So, if we don't publish any of the explicit images, and we refuse to blur, crop or otherwise alter them, all we're left with is a bunch of forwarded messages that say things like "take a look at this!" We decided that did not advance the story in any significant way.

Newman Gives Penske Elusive Daytona Win
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- One down, one to go for The Captain. Roger Penske picked up his elusive Daytona 500 victory, a $1 million bonus and a new challenge - pairing the race he just conquered with the one that means the most to him. Ryan Newman gave Penske his first Daytona 500 victory in 24 years of trying, a frustrating span for a car owner accustomed to dominating big events: He's won the Indianapolis 500 a record 14 times. Now he wants one more. Matching victories in two of motorsports' most sought after bounties. "Comparing it to the Indy 500, as Ryan knows, we've been open-wheel guys and coming down here has been tough," Penske said following Sunday's victory. "This has got to go to the top of the charts here, this win. What I'm going to try to do this year is have them back-to-back, have one in May, too.
